Rudy spent over 30 years on death row in San Quentin before being moved to Stockton early in 2024. He was my mothers pen pal for many years. She died in 2000, and in 2016, I began writing to him.

Rudy is a kindhearted, intelligent, thoughtful human being with a great sense of humor who has spent his time incarcerated learning to read, to write, and to cook. He is an avid reader, and also loves watching sports. My husband and I visited him in San Quentin in 2023. We spent four hours with him on two consecutive days and never ran out of things to talk about. He is currently taking classes to earn his GED.
