Let's begin with the obvious, I've been inside for two decades fighting a wrongful conviction against a litany of challenges that many confront and few overcome. I'm educated and was previously "successful" in life, and when faced with incarceration, I prioritized my activities to coincide with a singular, three-part agenda: learn the law; overturn conviction; and get back to life. But, as we know, life has a sense of humor; which is to say: I have found peace and power from within, while never taking my eyes off the prize.

I admit, I have lived some lonely times, but in doing so, discovered passions like writing (fiction, initially, but that grew into my current newsletter on Substack; then came cooking, where for six years I've been the head cook and have discovered the love in action of bettering someone's life through food. I enjoy long distance running, yoga, reading, and gardening.

I would describe myself as a middle-aged man with an old soul, with the added caveat that I'm on the cusp of beginning a new chapter as a reinvented, free man. I can't say when, but relatively speaking, this will occur soon. And with this in mind, I would very much like to meet a woman who has lived her share of challenges and disappointments, just as I have, and has likewise discovered the best version of herself. If there's a type of friend I would like to meet it's this: sincere, sometimes sarcastic; fierce when she needs to be, and soft as silk when she feels safe; someone undefeated by circumstances and still willing to fail—in a word, fearless.
