To whom it may concern, I hope that you read these words with an open mind and allow your spirit to absorb this connection. Allow me to introduce myself and give you a small dose of who I am. I am a 40 year old black man, 6'3", 225 pounds, and extremely good looking. OK extremely may be a bit... Extreme, so let's just say I'm phenomenally good looking. OK modesty is not my strong suit. I'm really looking for friendship with hopes of more. I am looking for someone with an open mind and open heart, someone who's patient and not quick to judge. Obviously I've made mistakes in my life, but I refuse to be defined by those mistakes. I have learned from them, paid my commitment, and with them became a better man. I am a writer of poetry and plan to make a career out of it. I'm going to express an original piece, please read it with an open spirit.

Putrid pedals on the whims
of a withered stem
sunlight shines in the guise of imperfection
there is dignity in darkness...
even for a dying rose

Blunted Thorns Roots no longer rooted
secluded splinters on the moon of many winters
Noble poise in the face of a bitter cold...
even for a dying rose

Seedlings glimmer with the hopes of a new day
vibrant with the whispers of tomorrow's
todays are no longer promised
the skies weep with the essence of lost souls
let the light be your guide in the guise
of a dying rose
